The Pareidolia collection was inspired by Zoran’s daily neighbourhood walks in Manhattan and the motifs he observed. Fascinated by the decaying Gilded Age architecture, the designer sketched patterns inspired by the intricate foliage carvings and Green Men: stone faces gazing from the facades that seem simultaneously at home and out of place in this century. Zoran's original hand sketches and paintings are digitally printed on velvet and cotton sateen. Foliage-like lace was meticulously hand painted and embroidered while bonded lace and iridescent lame add an ironically opulent touch. The hand-painted elements in The Pareidolia collection pay homage to the lost artistry of the stone masons and the quiet decay of the past still very much present everywhere.
